Claude passes ChatGPT in workplace adoption in Ramp data

The signal is that companies are choosing AI by workflow fit, not chatbot fame.

Fact

Ramp data suggests Anthropic has passed OpenAI in adoption among companies paying for AI tools in the dataset. The same reporting also points to a broader shift: many businesses are now paying for AI products as regular software.

Analysis

This does not prove Claude is better than ChatGPT at everything. It shows that workplace AI is becoming more pragmatic. Once the purchase moves through a company card, the question changes from brand awareness to operational fit.

For a business owner, the useful lesson is to avoid single-brand thinking. The tool that became famous first may not be the best fit for support, contracts, code, sales, research, spreadsheets, or finance.

What To Test

Pick two or three small repetitive processes. Examples: answering frequent customer questions, turning meeting audio into tasks, reviewing a commercial proposal, summarizing a contract, drafting a class outline, or preparing a first email.

Compare at least two tools for one week. Track time saved, answer quality, human rework, error risk, and monthly cost. The best AI for one job can be average for another.

Opinion

Brand helps the first purchase. Results keep the second one.

Measure before expanding. AI that is good for social posts may be bad for contracts. AI that is excellent for code may not be the best support assistant.
